Can you become a Mexican citizen?
Answer a few questions and we'll tell you which path applies to you — and when you can apply. Based on official SRE requirements.
Question 1
Do you have Mexican ancestors?
Mexican nationality passes by blood. If a parent — or even a grandparent — was Mexican, you may already be Mexican by birth, no naturalization needed.
This tool is a guide, not legal advice. Requirements are set by Article 30 of the Constitution, Articles 19–21 of the Ley de Nacionalidad and its Reglamento, and are administered by the SRE. See the official pages for naturalization by residence and the DNN-3 application form. Individual cases vary — confirm with the SRE or a lawyer before relying on any result.
